Hereford Regional Medical Center's mission is to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve. To us, it is essential people have access to quality physicians and healthcare without having to travel great distances.
After all, the “Best Medicine should be Close to Home”.
We believe the best medicine is caring for the whole person. Our physicians and staff strive to uphold a work ethic where patients and families receive the highest level of care and concern.
Equally important to us, is giving back to our community, by promoting health education and screenings. We have a vital interest in making our area a healthier, safer place to live, work and raise a family.
Hereford Regional Medical Center seeks out highly trained medical professionals. Our physicians and nurses bring with them exceptional skills, which HRMC supports with the best technology available.
Hereford Regional Medical Center has a heritage which is centered on the idea of neighbors taking care of neighbors. This tradition delivers the highest level of care with the personal attention patients and families deserve. This tradition also underscores the fact that the “Best Medicine is Close to Home”.
Our History
Hereford Regional Medical Center (formerly – Deaf Smith General Hospital) opened it's doors for the first time in 1921, when the old Carl home on West Second Street was converted into a 21 bed public hospital. But, concerned citizens continued to campaign for a more suitable building. The residents of Deaf Smith County approved a bond issue and a two-story building was constructed on the present hospital site on East Third Street, the facility opened it's doors in 1924.
Several additions and renovations have been made to the facility, including a new wing in 1948 to provide an X-Ray room and more patient rooms in 1969. More renovations and additions came in 1973 when an intensive care unit and modern OB department were added. Currently, HRMC is licensed as a 40-bed acute care medical center, offering a unique combination of technology, advanced facilities, innovative programs, provided by a highly qualified and dedicated team of professionals.
